    Question

I am strapping an existing ceiling and want to run wires within the 3/4" strapping spacing between the existing ceiling and the new gyproc. What do I need to do to protect the wiring? metal/plastic conduit? metal flashing over the wire?

    thanks

Rule 12-516 (1) Where the cable is run through studs, joists, or similar members, the outer surfaces of the cable shall be kept distant at least 32 mm(1 1/4 inches) from the edges of the members or the cable shall be effectively protected from mechanical injury. To answer your question, you could use #14 guage metal, or conduit for mechanical protection.

The more protection the better. CEC states protection is required "through" not "within".
